SHE Officer (Contract Mining)

Plan inspections, lead investigations and build a safer shift culture at the gold tailings retreatment operation near Mokopane. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a gold tailings retreatment operation in Mokopane. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Check that crews do planned task observations and pre-shift checks
• Train safety representatives and support the health and safety committee
• Inspect workplaces underground and on surface against the MHSA and the mine's standards
• Review baseline and issue-based risk assessments with section managers
• Take dust, noise and heat measurements with the occupational hygiene team
• Track safety statistics like LTIFR and report them each month

• SAMTRAC or an MQA-accredited mine safety qualification
• Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property
• Confident writing investigation reports and presenting findings
• Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit

• Occupational hygiene registration with the relevant council
• Mine rescue training
• Diploma or degree in Safety Management or Environmental Health

• Standby allowance for incident call-outs
• CPD and further study funded
• Retirement fund and medical aid
• Company vehicle on site
