Job Description

Start in retail here: a liquor store in Vereeniging trains packers who show up and work neat. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Home base is a liquor store on the Vereeniging side of Gauteng. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

The work, day to day

  • Unpack deliveries in the receiving area and sort by aisle
  • Check sell-by dates and pull expired stock for the manager
  • Put up price tickets and promotion shelf strips
  • Weigh, bag and price fruit and vegetables
  • Collect trolleys from the parking lot
  • Clean spills fast and put up wet-floor signs
  • Pack shelves from the back, rotating older stock to the front (first in, first out)

You'll need

  • Basic reading and maths for price checks
  • Available for weekends, month-end and public holidays
  • Polite with customers and happy to help
  • Able to stand and lift cases all shift
  • Honest, since stock losses are checked closely
  • Neat appearance and punctual

On offer

  • Travel allowance on merchandising routes
  • Paid training in store procedures
  • Chance to move into till or department roles

Applying, step by step

  1. Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: matric results or last school report, ID document or smart card, with a certified copy plus CV with the days and times you can work.
  3. Send your details with the form below. Add one or two lines about similar work you've done.
  4. Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 7 working days.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Vereeniging.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

How to stand out

  • Stores fill weekend and night-fill slots first, so write "available weekends and nights" in your CV summary line.
  • If you have ever sold anything, even at a school tuck shop or a family stall, list it. It shows you are comfortable with customers.
