SHEQ Officer (Building Contractor)

Safety files, inspections and toolbox talks: this renewable energy construction site in Pretoria East needs someone who can do all three well. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is Pretoria East-based, with most of your time spent at a renewable energy construction site. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements
• Audit subcontractor safety files before they start work
• Keep appointment letters and competency certificates in the file
• Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
• Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily
• Track PPE issues and replace damaged equipment
• Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014

• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer
• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites
• You write clear reports in English
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification

• Diploma in Safety Management
• Experience on renewable energy or high-rise projects

• Travel and site allowances
• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD
• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role
• Laptop and data for reporting

• Name the kind of projects you have covered, like roads, housing or wind farms. Clients want sector experience.
• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
