Shift Supervisor (Guarding Contract)

A security company in Isando wants a firm, fair supervisor for its residential estate. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Isando, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Run on-site training on procedures and emergency drills
• Investigate incidents and write reports for the client
• Do surprise night visits to check posts
• Order and issue uniform, radios and torches
• Meet the client weekly on security concerns
• Inspect guards on post for uniform, alertness and OB entries

• Confident writer of incident reports and rosters
• Matric, with a security management course a plus
• Firm with staff but fair and consistent
• At least 3 years in security, including 1 as a supervisor
• PSIRA Grade B (Grade A for area manager posts)

• Handgun competency for armed supervisor posts
• Computer skills for rosters in Excel or a workforce app
• Labour relations or basic supervision course

• Management training for growth to operations manager
• Company vehicle or car allowance on area roles
• Provident fund and funeral cover
• Cellphone allowance

• Mention how you handled absenteeism or roster gaps. It is the biggest daily headache for security companies.
• If you have been upgraded through the grades, show the progression. It proves you grew on the job.
