Shift Supervisor (Guarding Contract)

Step up from guarding into supervising on a residential estate in Prospecton. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Location: Prospecton, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Post officers when the shift changes over and cover no-shows
• Order and issue uniform, radios and torches
• Check that PSIRA registrations of staff on site are current
• Run on-site training on procedures and emergency drills
• Handle discipline issues fairly and keep written records
• Meet the client weekly on security concerns

• Valid Code 8 licence and willing to drive between sites
• PSIRA Grade B (Grade A for area manager posts)
• Available after hours for emergencies
• Firm with staff but fair and consistent
• At least 3 years in security, including 1 as a supervisor

• Labour relations or basic supervision course
• Handgun competency for armed supervisor posts
• Computer skills for rosters in Excel or a workforce app

• Company vehicle or car allowance on area roles
• Cellphone allowance
• Management training for growth to operations manager
• Provident fund and funeral cover

• If you have been upgraded through the grades, show the progression. It proves you grew on the job.
• Mention how you handled absenteeism or roster gaps. It is the biggest daily headache for security companies.
