Shift Supervisor (Guarding Contract) – Permanent

Officers look to you on every shift at a retail portfolio in Welkom. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a retail portfolio in Welkom. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Inspect guards on post for uniform, alertness and OB entries
• Handle discipline issues fairly and keep written records
• Plan the monthly roster to stay within legal working hours
• Meet the client weekly on security concerns
• Order and issue uniform, radios and torches
• Post officers when the shift changes over and cover no-shows
• Check that PSIRA registrations of staff on site are current

• Matric, with a security management course a plus
• Confident writer of incident reports and rosters
• Available after hours for emergencies
• Valid Code 8 licence and willing to drive between sites
• At least 3 years in security, including 1 as a supervisor
• PSIRA Grade B (Grade A for area manager posts)

• Handgun competency for armed supervisor posts
• Labour relations or basic supervision course

• Provident fund and funeral cover

• Company vehicle or car allowance on area roles
• Management training for growth to operations manager

• Say how many officers you supervised and on which sites. The number matters more than the title.
• Mention how you handled absenteeism or roster gaps. It is the biggest daily headache for security companies.
