Job Description

Keep the programme on track, the subbies busy and the site safe for the retail and commercial builder in Umlazi. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a retail and commercial builder in Umlazi. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400
Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
Book NHBRC and municipal inspections at the right stages
Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing
Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning

Must-haves

National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool

Surveying skills with a total station
Concrete technology short course
Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects
