Job Description

You'll run the site day to day for the civil engineering contractor in Durban Central, from setting out to handover. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is Durban Central-based, with most of your time spent at a civil engineering contractor.

What you'll actually do

Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing
Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion
Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400
Run toolbox talks and support the safety officer on Construction Regulations compliance

Must-haves

At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience

Nice if you have

Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects
Surveying skills with a total station
Experience on JBCC or GCC 2015 contracts
