Site Foreman (Residential Housing)

This road and stormwater contractor in Fourways needs someone who can read the drawings and get a building out of the ground. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Fourways-based, with most of your time spent at a road and stormwater contractor. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning
• Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing
• Keep the site diary, daily labour returns and plant hours up to date
• Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion
• Chair the weekly site meeting and record actions for the principal agent
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
• Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400

• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
• You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post

• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Manager or Candidate
• Experience on JBCC or GCC 2015 contracts
• Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects

• Cellphone and laptop supplied
• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects
