Site Labourer (Concrete Crew)

Hard outdoor work on a road rehabilitation project in Bloemfontein, with a chance to learn a trade while you earn. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Location: Bloemfontein, Free State. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

• Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
• Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
• Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor
• Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
• Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
• Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts

• A clean record is preferred for some government sites
• Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
• You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• Willing to start early, often at 06:30

• Some experience with a jackhammer, grinder or plate compactor
• A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket

• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site

• If a foreman can vouch for you, put their number on your CV. Site hiring runs on word of mouth.
• List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
