Site Manager (Retail Construction)

Here you run the site: labour, materials, quality and progress for the road and stormwater contractor in Centurion. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at a road and stormwater contractor in Centurion. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Keep the site diary, daily labour returns and plant hours up to date
• Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
• Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle
• Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection

• Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
• Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
• You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience

• Experience on JBCC or GCC 2015 contracts
• Surveying skills with a total station

• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Cellphone and laptop supplied
• Project completion bonus linked to handover date

• Mention the contract types you have worked on, like JBCC or GCC. It shows you understand claims and variations.
