Site Manager (Retail Construction)

Keep the programme on track, the subbies busy and the site safe for the low-cost housing developer in Germiston. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll report in Germiston. Relocation is not covered for this one. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion
• Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning
• Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing
• Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection

• You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
• Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act

• Concrete technology short course
• Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects

• Project completion bonus linked to handover date
• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects
