Site Manager (Retail Construction) – Fixed-Term

This civil engineering contractor in Johannesburg CBD needs someone who can read the drawings and get a building out of the ground. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll report in Johannesburg CBD. Relocation is not covered for this one. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing
• Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
• Keep the site diary, daily labour returns and plant hours up to date
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
• Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle
• Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400
• Set out foundations, grid lines and levels with the surveyor or a dumpy level

• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
• Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post

• Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects
• Surveying skills with a total station
• Concrete technology short course

• Project completion bonus linked to handover date
