Shutter Hand (Concrete Formwork) – Experienced

The shopping centre extension in Springs needs skilled hands and helpers who know the basics of the building trade. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Springs, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings
• Mix mortar and plaster to the right ratio for the job
• Tile floors, showers and splashbacks, including cutting around fittings
• Prime and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork in two or three coats
• Cut, bend and tie reinforcing steel to the bending schedule
• Lay face brick and plaster brick to line, level and plumb
• Build and strip formwork for columns, beams and slabs

• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test
• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible

• Your own trowels, levels and tile cutter
• Trade test in bricklaying, carpentry or plastering

• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest
• Chance to move up to a gang leader post
• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time

• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
• Be ready to do a short practical test on site. Arrive early with your own tools if you have them.
