Site Manager (Retail Construction)

You'll run the site day to day for the retail and commercial builder in Tzaneen, from setting out to handover. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at a retail and commercial builder in Tzaneen. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Run toolbox talks and support the safety officer on Construction Regulations compliance
• Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400
• Chair the weekly site meeting and record actions for the principal agent
• Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion
• Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle

• You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
• Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
• Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post

• Surveying skills with a total station
• Concrete technology short course
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Manager or Candidate

• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects
• Cellphone and laptop supplied
• Project completion bonus linked to handover date
