Site Safety Officer (Civil Projects)

Every person goes home in one piece. That is the job on this municipal infrastructure project in Fourways. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is in Fourways (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Audit subcontractor safety files before they start work
• Track PPE issues and replace damaged equipment
• Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements
• Run site inductions for every new worker and visitor
• Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
• Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent
• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height

• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites
• Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer
• First Aid Level 1 at least
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight

• ISO 45001 internal auditor course
• Diploma in Safety Management

• Laptop and data for reporting
• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD
• Travel and site allowances
• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role

• Name the kind of projects you have covered, like roads, housing or wind farms. Clients want sector experience.
• Put your SACPCMP registration number and category first. Many CVs without it are rejected without being read.
