Job Description

You'll build and ship features that real users touch every day, for a fintech start-up in Stellenbosch. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at a fintech start-up in Stellenbosch. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What you'll actually do

Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind

Must-haves

Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Experience writing automated tests
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people

Helpful, not essential

Docker and Kubernetes experience
Public GitHub portfolio or published app
