Staff Nurse (Night Shift)

You'll give hands-on nursing care at a physical rehabilitation hospital in Centurion, working alongside registered nurses. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is a physical rehabilitation hospital on the Centurion side of Gauteng. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Spot confusion, falls risk or changes in mood and tell the nurse in charge
• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered
• Keep families updated on routine matters and pass clinical questions to the sister

• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• SANC enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary for nursing posts
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends

• Meals provided on shift at many frail care centres
• Uniform supplied
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Overtime paid at time and a half

• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
