Steel Fixer (Reinforcing)

You'll build it with your hands: walls, floors, roofs and finishes on the housing development site in Bloemfontein. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a housing development site in Bloemfontein. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Wear your hard hat, boots and harness wherever the foreman says
• Mix mortar and plaster to the right ratio for the job
• Carry bricks and materials to the workface and keep the scaffold clear
• Build and strip formwork for columns, beams and slabs
• Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings

• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
• Punctual every morning, even in winter

• Experience on NHBRC-registered housing projects
• Trade test in bricklaying, carpentry or plastering
• Your own trowels, levels and tile cutter

• UIF and COIDA registration from day one
• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time
• Chance to move up to a gang leader post
• Transport from a pick-up point to site

• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
• Be ready to do a short practical test on site. Arrive early with your own tools if you have them.
