Stock Packer (Distribution Centre)

Pick it right, pack it neat, send it out: that's the job at a frozen-food distribution centre in Soweto. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The work is in Soweto, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Scan every item so the system shows the right stock count
• Keep aisles clear of plastic, cardboard and loose pallets
• Stack finished orders on pallets and stretch-wrap them tight
• Replenish empty pick faces from overstock racking
• Pick orders from pick slips or a handheld scanner, bin by bin
• Move pallets with a hand pallet jack to the dispatch lane

• Happy to work shifts, weekends and public holidays in peak season
• You're fit enough to lift boxes up to 25kg all shift
• South African ID or a valid work permit
• Willing to wear safety boots, a reflector vest and gloves
• Punctual, with reliable transport home after late shifts
• Grade 10 or higher; matric preferred

• Previous picking experience with a handheld RF scanner
• Basic computer skills for capturing counts
• Experience in a cold-chain or freezer environment

• Staff canteen with subsidised meals
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekdays
• Chance to be trained on forklift after probation
• Permanent appointment for reliable temps after peak season
