Stope Team Leader (Platinum Mine)

Underground, the miner sets the pace and the safety standard. This mechanised hard-rock mine near Mogwase needs that person. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is in Mogwase (North West). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Charge up holes and connect initiation systems for the blast
• Report misfires straight away and handle them strictly by the procedure
• Bar down loose rock and install support to the section's support standard
• Stop work when a condition is unsafe, using your right to withdraw
• Mark off drilling holes to the standard pattern and check the drilling
• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows

• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards
• No serious safety transgressions in your record
• Valid blasting certificate issued under the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Able to lead a crew of 8 to 20 people in a language they understand

• Experience in trackless mechanised sections
• Rock engineering or ventilation short courses

• Housing or living-out allowance
• Underground allowance for every shift below surface
• Pension fund with employer contributions

• Write your blasting certificate number and date of issue near the top of the CV.
• List each mine, commodity and mining method on your CV, like "conventional stoping, platinum, 4 years".
