Job Description

This road agency project office in Cape Town CBD needs someone who can check a design and then go and check it was built right. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Cape Town CBD-based, with most of your time spent at a road agency project office.

What you'll actually do

Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Write design reports and handover documents
Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries

You'll need

Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software

Extra points for

Registration with SAICE and active CPD
Contract management training for NEC or GCC
Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
