Structural Engineer (Buildings)

This civil engineering consultancy in Centurion needs someone who can check a design and then go and check it was built right. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Location: Centurion, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
• Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
• Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
• Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
• Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
• Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals

• Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
• Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
• BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
• Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors

• Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
• Contract management training for NEC or GCC
• Registration with SAICE and active CPD
