Job Description

Roads, water, buildings: the structural design practice in Coega needs a civil engineer who can take a project from design to site. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Home base is a structural design practice on the Coega side of Eastern Cape. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

What your day looks like

Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures

Must-haves

Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
