Theatre Cleaner (Private Hospital)

Careful, trained cleaners are wanted at a day surgery clinic in Durban Central. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a day surgery clinic on the Durban Central side of KwaZulu-Natal. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Disinfect bed rails, call bells and bedside lockers
• Move patients' belongings and equipment when rooms change
• Clean theatres between operations to the hospital's turnaround times
• Do terminal cleans of isolation rooms after a patient is discharged
• Clean patient rooms using colour-coded cloths and mops for each area
• Take soiled linen to the sluice room and bring clean linen back
• Fill in cleaning logs so infection control can audit the ward

• Calm under pressure in busy wards
• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty
• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
• Matric or Grade 11

• Knowledge of healthcare waste handling rules
• Previous hospital or clinic cleaning experience
