Job Description

Hard, outdoor work on a fire protection association near Gqeberha, with training on chainsaws and fire safety. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll report in Gqeberha. Relocation is not covered for this one.

What your day looks like

Clear and maintain firebreaks during the dry season
Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks
Apply herbicide around young trees as instructed
Prune lower branches with pruning saws and ladders
Fight veld fires with beaters and water packs under a crew leader
Sharpen and service chainsaws daily

What you need

Available for early starts and fire-season standby
Valid ID
Passes the medical check for fire crews
Able to work in a crew and follow the crew leader

Helpful, not essential

Chainsaw operator certificate
Previous plantation or sawmill experience
First-aid training
