TLB Operator (Civil Works)

You'll move earth, dig trenches and shape roads for the quarry and aggregate supplier in Bellville. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Bellville-based, with most of your time spent at a quarry and aggregate supplier. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Record machine hours and fuel on the daily plant sheet
• Park the machine on level ground and lock it when you knock off
• Compact layers with the roller until density tests pass
• Grease the machine daily and report leaks or damage straight away
• Watch for underground services and follow the banksman's signals

• At least 2 years operating the machine on construction sites
• Good depth perception and no history of machine accidents
• Operator certificate for the machine class, from an accredited training provider
• Valid Code 10 licence for moving machines on public roads

• GPS machine control experience on excavators or graders
• PrDP for tipper or lowbed work

• Refresher training on new machines
• Overtime paid on all hours past 45 a week
• Travel home paid at the end of each site shift cycle

• Put your operator certificate numbers on the CV. Site safety files need them before you start.
• List each machine with its size, for example "20-ton excavator, 4 years". Plant managers match you to the machine they need.
