Job Description

Planting to harvest, a mixed crop farm near Bloemfontein runs on good tractor drivers. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a mixed crop farm on the Bloemfontein side of Free State. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What you'll actually do

Wash equipment after spraying and store chemicals safely
Plant rows straight, using GPS guidance where the tractor has it
Hook up and drive ploughs, discs, planters and sprayers
Check oil, water, tyres and grease points before starting
Operate combine harvesters during harvest season
Haul cane, grain or fruit bins from field to shed
Mix and apply sprays exactly as the farm manager prescribes

Must-haves

Willing to work long hours in planting and harvest seasons
At least 2 years driving tractors on a farm
Reliable and sober on duty
Available to live on or near the farm
Can read job cards and spray instructions

Nice if you have

Combine harvester experience
Code 8 or Code 10 licence for road trips
Experience with GPS guidance or auto-steer
