Job Description

Planting to harvest, a sugar cane estate near Pretoria East runs on good tractor drivers. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Location: Pretoria East, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

What your day looks like

Hook up and drive ploughs, discs, planters and sprayers
Record hours, fuel and fields worked on the job card
Wash equipment after spraying and store chemicals safely
Plant rows straight, using GPS guidance where the tractor has it
Check oil, water, tyres and grease points before starting
Mix and apply sprays exactly as the farm manager prescribes
Report breakdowns and help the mechanic with repairs

You'll need

Available to live on or near the farm
Willing to work long hours in planting and harvest seasons
Can read job cards and spray instructions
At least 2 years driving tractors on a farm
Reliable and sober on duty
Safe driver who respects chemical and machine safety

Extra points for

Code 8 or Code 10 licence for road trips
Experience with GPS guidance or auto-steer
A pesticide application or spray course
