Trainee Accountant (SAICA Training Contract)

Your reports shape real decisions at this agricultural co-operative in Brakpan, so they must be right. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Brakpan-based, with most of your time spent at an agricultural co-operative. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Draft annual financial statements under IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• Prepare the audit file and answer auditor queries
• Track stock costing, standard costs and production variances
• Run cash flow forecasts and manage the weekly payment run
• Run the month-end close and prepare the trial balance

• Understanding of South African income tax and VAT
• You meet month-end deadlines without being chased
• Experience on an ERP such as Sage X3, Sage 300, Syspro or SAP Business One
• Strong Excel skills, including large data sets and lookups
• Working knowledge of IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• BCom Accounting or equivalent degree

• Consolidation experience across several companies
• Power BI or a similar BI tool

• Study assistance for board exams
• Paid professional body membership fees
• Hybrid schedule outside month-end week
