Transport Controller (Long Haul Fleet)

Get off the road and into the control office at a distribution depot in Benoni. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll be based at a distribution depot in Benoni. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers

• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations

• Knowledge of cross-border documentation
• Transport management system (TMS) experience

• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Growth to transport manager
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Office-based work with a steady roster

• Mention the tracking and Excel skills you have. Bring an example report if you are allowed to share one.
• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
