Job Description

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a road freight company in Cape Town CBD, that could be you. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Cape Town CBD-based, with most of your time spent at a road freight company. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

Update customers on delivery times and delays
Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles

What you need

Calm and decisive when things go wrong
Matric
Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
At least 2 years in transport or logistics

Nice if you have

Previous truck driving experience
Logistics or supply chain certificate
Knowledge of cross-border documentation
