Transport Controller (Long Haul Fleet) – Experienced

Get off the road and into the control office at a courier operations centre in Richards Bay. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a courier operations centre in Richards Bay. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests

• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Matric
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations

• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Growth to transport manager

• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
