Transport Controller (Long Haul Fleet)

Trucks, drivers, loads and deadlines all meet on your screen at a road freight company in Rosslyn. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is in Rosslyn (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Update customers on delivery times and delays

• Good with Excel and email
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Matric
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong

• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Growth to transport manager
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems

• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
• Mention the tracking and Excel skills you have. Bring an example report if you are allowed to share one.
