Transport Controller (Long Haul Fleet)

Trucks, drivers, loads and deadlines all meet on your screen at a distribution depot in Umlazi. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll report in Umlazi. Relocation is not covered for this one. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries

• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Matric
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Good with Excel and email
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics

• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform
• Knowledge of cross-border documentation

• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Growth to transport manager

• Training on the fleet and tracking systems

• Mention the tracking and Excel skills you have. Bring an example report if you are allowed to share one.
• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
