Travel Consultant (Leisure Bookings)

You'll handle check-ins, bookings and questions at a game lodge in Paarl. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Location: Paarl, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Handle complaints at the desk and log them for the duty manager.
• Check guests in and out on Opera or Protel, and scan IDs and passports.
• Store guest details securely in line with POPIA.
• Run the night audit, close the day and print the flash report.
• Quote flights, car hire and holiday packages on a GDS such as Amadeus or Galileo.
• Allocate rooms and pass early check-ins to housekeeping.

• Matric
• A hospitality or tourism diploma, or 1 year at a hotel front desk
• Honest with cash and card payments
• Confident on a computer and quick to learn a property system
• Calm with an unhappy guest at 11pm
• Clear spoken and written English

• A foreign language such as German, French or Portuguese
• Revenue or yield management exposure

• Meals on duty and uniform supplied
• Service charge share at some properties
• Night-shift allowance

• If you speak a foreign language, state your level honestly; many interviews switch languages mid-chat.
• Name the property systems you have used (Opera, Protel, a GDS) in the first lines of your CV.
