Truck Mechanic (Fleet Workshop)

Keep trucks on the road and earning at the municipal bus depot in Centurion. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll report in Centurion. Relocation is not covered for this one. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Fault-find AdBlue and aftertreatment systems on newer engines
• Carry out pre-roadworthy checks before the vehicle goes for COF testing
• Record parts used and hours worked on the fleet system
• Repair hydraulics on tippers, cranes and tail-lifts
• Diagnose electronic engine faults with a heavy-duty diagnostic laptop
• Service trucks and trailers on the planned maintenance schedule
• Repair gearboxes, differentials and clutches on heavy vehicles

• Diesel mechanic trade test certificate
• Code 14 licence so you can move and test trucks
• Physically fit for work under trucks and on pits
• Willing to do standby and roadside call-outs

• Brand-specific heavy vehicle courses
• PrDP for road tests with loaded vehicles
• Auto electrical skills

• Heavy-duty tools supplied by the workshop
• Provident fund and funeral cover
• Standby and call-out allowance
• Overtime available most weeks

• List the truck and engine types you have worked on, including electronic systems. Fleet managers screen for those.
• Your Code 14 is a big plus. Put it right below your name, not at the bottom of the CV.
