Voice-Picking Warehouse Assistant

Pick it right, pack it neat, send it out: that's the job at an online grocery fulfilment hub in Khayelitsha. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in Khayelitsha. Relocation is not covered for this one. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Move pallets with a hand pallet jack to the dispatch lane
• Pack cartons, add fillers and seal them with tape guns
• Keep aisles clear of plastic, cardboard and loose pallets
• Unpack returned parcels and sort them into resell or write-off
• Wear thermal gear and rotate in and out of freezer zones on schedule

• Grade 10 or higher; matric preferred
• You can read product codes and count accurately
• South African ID or a valid work permit
• You're fit enough to lift boxes up to 25kg all shift
• Punctual, with reliable transport home after late shifts
• Willing to wear safety boots, a reflector vest and gloves

• Previous picking experience with a handheld RF scanner
• Experience in a cold-chain or freezer environment
• A valid forklift or reach truck certificate

• Staff canteen with subsidised meals
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekdays
• Safety boots, overalls and freezer jackets supplied

• Say clearly that you can work nights and weekends. Peak-season hiring goes to people who are available.
• Arrive for the interview in closed shoes. Some warehouses walk you through the floor straight away.
