Job Description

Guests at this sports bar and grill in Cape Town CBD come back for the people, and you'll be one of the reasons. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Home base is a sports bar and grill on the Cape Town CBD side of Western Cape.

The work, day to day

Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.
Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.
Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.
Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
Check back two minutes after mains land and fix problems on the spot.
Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.

Must-haves

Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift
At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
Quick with basic maths and card machines

Helpful, not essential

Responsible Service of Alcohol training
Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint
A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
