Waiter / Waitress (Evening Shift) – Fixed-Term

Guests at this hotel restaurant in Epping come back for the people, and you'll be one of the reasons. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Epping, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
• Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.
• Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
• Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
• Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.
• Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.
• Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.

• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
• Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts
• Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
• At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
• Quick with basic maths and card machines
• Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays
