Waiter / Waitress (Evening Shift) – Entry Level

Guests at this hotel restaurant in Montague Gardens come back for the people, and you'll be one of the reasons. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Location: Montague Gardens, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.
• Clear, wipe and reset tables fast during the Friday and Sunday rush.
• Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
• Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
• Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.
• Carry plates to the right seat without auctioning food at the table.
• Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.

• Quick with basic maths and card machines
• Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
• You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
• Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts
• Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays

• A barista course certificate or latte-art skills
• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans

• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly
• Paid menu and wine tastings so you can sell with confidence
• Late-shift lift home within a set radius
