Waiter / Waitress (Evening Shift)

Guests at this busy mall coffee shop in Mthatha come back for the people, and you'll be one of the reasons. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in Mthatha. Relocation is not covered for this one. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
• Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
• Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
• Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.
• Greet guests, seat them and hand over menus within a minute of arrival.
• Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.

• Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
• Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays
• At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
• Quick with basic maths and card machines
• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
• You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift

• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
• A barista course certificate or latte-art skills
• Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint

• Paid menu and wine tastings so you can sell with confidence
• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly
• Uniform supplied and laundered
