Wine Steward (Fine Dining)

You'll look after tables at a sports bar and grill in Roodepoort, from the first greeting to the final bill. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Roodepoort, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Carry plates to the right seat without auctioning food at the table.
• Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.
• Clear, wipe and reset tables fast during the Friday and Sunday rush.
• Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
• Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.
• Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.

• Quick with basic maths and card machines
• You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
• At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
• Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
• Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts
• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus

• Responsible Service of Alcohol training
• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans

• Late-shift lift home within a set radius
• Paid menu and wine tastings so you can sell with confidence
• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly

• Walk in with your CV between 2pm and 4pm when managers have time, not during lunch or dinner service.
