Access Control Officer (Grade C)

The gate at a construction yard in Krugersdorp is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Krugersdorp-based, with most of your time spent at a construction yard. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer
• Search vehicles and bags leaving the site when company policy requires it
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols

• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Clean criminal record

• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules
