Access Control Officer (Grade C)

The gate at a gated residential estate in Umhlanga is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at a gated residential estate in Umhlanga. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer

• Speaks and writes basic English
• Clean criminal record
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers
• Physically fit for foot patrols
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends

• Firefighting or evacuation training
• A Code 8 licence for vehicle patrols

• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Stable long-term site contracts
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued

• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
