Access Control Officer (Grade C)

The gate at a gated residential estate in Vanderbijlpark is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is Vanderbijlpark-based, with most of your time spent at a gated residential estate. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols

• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers
• Speaks and writes basic English

• Experience on estate access apps or biometric readers
• First-aid Level 1 certificate
• A Code 8 licence for vehicle patrols

• Stable long-term site contracts
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Provident fund contributions
• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training

• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
