Boom Gate Controller (Industrial Park)

The gate at a gated residential estate in Roodepoort is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is Roodepoort-based, with most of your time spent at a gated residential estate. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols

• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• Speaks and writes basic English
• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Physically fit for foot patrols

• Experience on estate access apps or biometric readers
• Previous experience at a similar site type

• Stable long-term site contracts
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules

• Arrive for the interview in neat clothes with your certificates in a plastic sleeve. It shows the discipline they want.
• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
