Accounts Clerk (Property Management)

Recons that balance and suppliers who get paid right: that's the job at a family-owned manufacturer in Paarl. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at a family-owned manufacturer in Paarl. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Capture supplier invoices and customer receipts on Sage or Xero
• Send customer statements and phone accounts that are over 60 days
• Prepare VAT201 workings for the accountant to submit on SARS eFiling
• Post month-end journals for accruals, prepayments and depreciation
• Match orders, delivery notes and invoices before a payment goes out
• Reconcile bank accounts daily and clear unallocated items
• Keep the filing system in order for the annual audit or review

• Accurate with figures and careful with supplier bank details
• At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or clerk work
• Practical skill in Sage Pastel, Sage Business Cloud or Xero
• Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)
• Matric with Accounting
• Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas

• Knowledge of Sage Evolution or QuickBooks
• Experience with debt collection letters and handover to attorneys
• Registered with SAIPA or the ICB as a bookkeeper

• Thirteenth cheque at many small firms
• Hybrid work after probation at some practices
• Office hours with no weekend work

• Say how far you take the books, for example "to trial balance" or "to management accounts"; it tells recruiters your level.
• Recruiters often give a short Excel or recon test, so practise a bank recon before the interview.
