Job Description

You'll keep the books clean and up to date for a construction contractor in Soweto. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Soweto-based, with most of your time spent at a construction contractor. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

What you'll actually do

Update customer credit limits and put accounts on hold when needed
Keep the filing system in order for the annual audit or review
Send customer statements and phone accounts that are over 60 days
Post month-end journals for accruals, prepayments and depreciation
Run petty cash and file slips with proper supporting documents

Must-haves

Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas
Matric with Accounting
At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or clerk work
Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)
Accurate with figures and careful with supplier bank details
Understanding of VAT input and output rules
