Job Description

Songs, stories, sandpits and routines: help a primary school aftercare programme in Brakpan give children a strong start. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Home base is a primary school aftercare programme on the Brakpan side of Gauteng.

What your day looks like

Feed, change and settle babies and toddlers on their routine
Prepare simple, nutritious snacks and keep the kitchen hygienic
Watch children closely outside and keep the play area safe
Observe each child and note milestones in their development file
Clean and sanitise toys, mats and tables at the end of the day
Help aftercare learners with homework and reading

What you need

Experience caring for children in a group setting, even as a volunteer
Paediatric first aid certificate
Warm, patient and energetic with small children
ECD Level 4 or Level 5 qualification, or currently studying towards one

Extra points for

Montessori diploma or Reggio-inspired training
Basic music, art or movement skills for group activities
Speak more than one home language of the children you'll teach
